Palisade
Grapes and fruit may not be the first thing when thinking of Western Colorado, however, there are 21 wineries in and around the quaint town of Palisade. Wine makers have been making wine in Colorado for over 100 years. The grapes are grown primarily in the Grand Valley along the Colorado River. Most Colorado wineries give tours and tasting parties. Plan on visiting the Colorado Mountain Winefest in September every year.
Grand Junction
The largest city between Denver and Salt Lake City, Grand Junction is a cultural hub of Western Colorado. Attractions like the Museum of Western Colorado, Dinosaur Valley and Cross Orchards Living History Farm help visitors appreciate Western Colorado history. Grand Junction is also home to the Western Colorado Center for the Arts, the Grand Junction Symphony, four golf courses, dozens of restaurants and shopping malls, including the historic downtown area. Just 50 miles west on I-70.
Rifle
Just 20 minutes east on I-70 is the town of Rifle, a city surrounded by an abundance of recreation. Several miles north of Rifle is the popular Rifle Creek Golf Course. Continuing north through Rifle Gap to the Rifle Gap Reservoir, an idyllic setting for fishing, boating and water skiing. Further up the road, you'll find the beautiful Rifle Falls, the breathtaking Ice Caves and the serenity of the White River National Forest.
Glenwood Springs
Sooth yourself in the world's famous hot springs pool, take a white river raft trip down the Colorado River, challenge the snow and moguls at Ski Sunlight. These are just a few of your options in one of Colorado's most popular towns. Glenwood Springs also boasts two 18 hole golf courses, dozens of fine shops and restaurants, world class hunting and fishing, and more.
Aspen/Roaring Fork Valley
Located south of Glenwood Springs, the valley abounds with recreation for any season. Ride the giant ski lifts for exhilarating views in the summer or world class skiing in the winter.
